As a local company, Shuttercraft Oxford understand how getting the right window treatments can make a visible difference in a wide variety of Bicester properties. With many newer developments on the town’s outskirts, there are many uniform window sizes and patio doors, perfect for the elegant finish provided by plantation shutters.
Crafted with precision, every shutter and we blind has been made-to-measure for each individual, as we know that true quality means products last longer, making our customers happy and ensuring their homes are transformed for years to come. Each shutter is built from scratch rather than cut to size, making them the perfect solution for either bay windows or special shapes.
Our internal shutters are available from a range of different materials, such as waterproof ABS, polypropylene coated MDF and wood. You can also choose from a host of colour and stain options, to suit the style of any décor. The premium hardwood ranges we offer are from a sustainable source, making them an ethical choice as much as a stylish one.
As well as interior shutters for windows, Shuttercraft also supply the perfect solution for creating room dividers, closing open plan homes and making them feel cosier – perfect in cooler winter months. Shutters can provide light control and privacy, while remaining one of the easiest window treatments to clean and maintain.
Noted for being one of the fastest grown towns in Oxfordshire, Bicester has good road links due to its proximity to the M40 motorway as well as two railway stations (Bicester Village and Bicester North). The former RAF base on the town’s northern outskirts is now the home of Bicester Heritage, which hosts events, vintage vehicles and local businesses.
Featured in the Domesday Book, archaeological evidence from the area shows that the area of Bicester was inhabited from even earlier during the Saxon period. The Norman nobleman Robert D’Oyly, appointed the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, held two manors at Bicester and Wretchwick (Ambrosden) and it was between these two that the town began to grow.
In 2014 it was announced by the government that Bicester was to be the site of major developments to create a new garden city. Up to 13,000 homes were promised for the area, with a new railway station expected to serve the town’s increased population.
Born in the nearby village of Ambrosden, local doctor Albert King was one of the physicians to try and revive President Abraham Lincoln after he was shot by actor John Wilkes Booth in April 1865.
